Hey, I’m Georges Hourani. I am a professional accredited journalist based in Finland, a husband, and a father of three. I began my career as a war correspondent for An-Nahar, one of Lebanon’s leading Arabic newspapers, shortly after earning my Bachelor of Science in Media and Mass Communication from the Lebanese University in Beirut. My professional journey has taken me from frontlines in conflict zones to academic halls in Finland, where I deepened my knowledge in global media and Peacebuilding.
I hold an advanced diploma in Foreign Reporting from the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki, and I have completed Master’s-level studies in Global Media and Communications as well as International Public Law at the University of Helsinki. Additionally, I pursued further studies in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution at Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU).
Recently, I published my first book, Homecoming from War Zones, which explores themes of belonging, home, and reconciliation. As a Lebanese native who has made Finland my home, I have a profound appreciation for cultural diversity and the power of dialogue in bridging differences. As an immigrant, I bring a unique voice shaped by firsthand experience of war, migration, and intercultural dialogue.
Through my writing, public speaking, and storytelling, I share hard-earned insights and heartfelt lessons from a life shaped by war, migration, and cultural complexity. My work explores themes of identity, peacebuilding, and reconciliation, offering a voice rooted in experience and empathy.
I’ve navigated diverse cultural and religious landscapes, and my mission is to foster a culture of love, peace, and understanding. Whether through a blog post, a speech, or a book, I aim to spark dialogue, promote coexistence, and connect with people across all walks of life.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, reading, cycling, swimming, and taking peaceful walks in the woods.
